The first of the Honda 'Monkey' style bikes to be offered through Honda Dealers in any quantity was the CZ100. Most of these bikes were exported and were not available on the JDM (Japan Domestic Market).

The Australian CZ100's were imported by Bennet and Wood, later known as Bennet Honda.

There were three types of CZ100 manufactured from late 1962 through to 1966.

       TYPE 1                 TYPE 2                 TYPE 3

TYPE 1

Identifying Features

  • The earliest version of the CZ100 model can be easily identified by its white fuel tank

  • No speedometer or speedometer drive on the front hub

  • The front hub on the Type 1 CZ100 is in fact a rear hub casting that has not been machined to accept a drive sprocket

  • Horn located below the larger, speedo-less headlamp bucket and faces forward

  • Headlamp bucket ears on the front forks are shorter to suit the different headlamp

  • Under-seat muffler is retained together by a through bolt and acorn nut assembly

  • Rounder styled front fender

TYPE 2

Identifying Features

  • Type 2 was the first of the red fuel tank CZ100's

  • Speedometer fitted to headlight bucket

  • Speedometer drive and new front hub assembly to suit

  • Horn moved to below the fuel tank and facing RHS of bike

  • New smaller headlamp with single filament globe

  • Longer headlamp bucket ears with extra bolts

  • Later Type 2's had the one piece muffler with fixed end caps

TYPE 3

Identifying Features

  • Front fender changed to a flatter profile

  • No extra bolts in the headlamp ears

  • One piece muffler on all bikes

  • UK & General Export versions had the same small headlamp as a Type 2.  The French and Belgium versions had a larger headlamp and separate speedometer mounted on the handlebars
